Human Rights Day event
To mark Human Rights Day, NRS International partnered with the UN Global Compact UAE Network to stage a two-day event depicting the lives of refugees and victims of humanitarian crises. The event was designed to support the Business Action Pledge, which was launched by the UN Global Compact and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to encourage companies and other stakeholders to take action to diminish the suffering of people forced to flee conflict and support solutions for the resulting widespread societal disruption.
On 9 December 2015, an interactive art exhibition gave insights into many facets of the refugee crisis, including hunger, women’s rights, education and malaria. Attendees came together from across the UAE and the Gulf, and from countries further afield such as Malaysia, Kenya and Afghanistan. On 10 December 2015, we dedicated the day to youth outreach. Two interactive sessions were organised, with participating students coming from American University in Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai, Amity University, Zayed University, Murdoch University and the Institute of Management Technology in Dubai.
The event has now been officially recognised by the UN Global Compact UAE Network and will next be held on 07 December 2016.
