Bilqees Sarwar Foundation Sponsors 7th Annual City School Model United Nations Conference13 Nov 2016
NRS International’s family-run charity, Bilqees Sarwar Foundation, has partnered with the City School in Lahore to sponsor the 7th Annual City School Model United Nations (CSMUN) Conference, showcasing a variety of activities including a debate competition for students. The three-day conference aimed to promote talent and freedom of speech to overcome the communication barriers, and to highlight local and global social problem. O- and A-Level students and undergraduates attended from 40 institutions.
Spreading awareness on the importance of education
Held at the City School Gulberg Sports Complex from 11-13 November, the main objective of the event was to spread awareness among youth regarding the importance of education and cultural diplomacy. The three-day event was comprised of literary and entertainment activities. The school’s management did not only organise an informative debate competition, but also provided the attendees with a startling musical performance and a fashion show. The debate competition was aiming at highlighting the social problems faced at the local and global grounds.
Important aspects of the CSMUN VII Conference
BSF took the initiative to sponsor the event due to its productive agenda. The City School’s conference was mainly targeted to nurture the youth of Pakistan. The debate competition was specially designed around topics such as education, freedom of expression in cultural diplomacy, communication barriers and the role of our generation towards bringing a positive change. Over 1,000 students, dignitaries and guest speakers from a variety of prominent academic institutes attended the event and shared their views.
Apart from the City School’s students, a large number of undergraduates from more than 40 other institutes including LUMS, Lahore School of Economics, Beaconhouse National University, National College of Arts, Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design, Scarsdale International School and International School of Choueifat also participated in live singing performances, runway revolution (fashion show), and leading competitions. The well-attended event was organised to provide young generation in Pakistan with the opportunity to be a part of something useful and productive.
A prize distribution ceremony was organised to reward the participants, delegates, and sponsors with certificates and awards. The segment was intended to encourage the students for their participation. BSF takes great pride to be a part of such beneficial activity.
